To be a model in promoting Unity and Brotherhood among Muslims
To bring Muslims into closer union and inculcate in them, the true Islamic spirit of Brotherhood and absolute faith in ALLAH as the only basis for the achievement of peace among mankind through D.R.E
THE Organization of Muslim Unity was originally aimed to be an alumni forum (old Students) of Ma’ad Al-Arabiyyah (Arabic Institute) Elekuro Ibadan. The idea of forming the alumni was come about in 1973. I (Hamzah) was then working as a factory worker in the Nigerian Textile Mail (NTM) Ikeja. I used to work in three shifts – morning, afternoon and night shifts. Myself and Alhaj Sulaiman Abdul Karim and Alhaj Muslihudeen Imran (of blessed memory) are old students of this institute. Alhaj Sulaiman and Muslihudeen were teaching in local Arabic schools in Mushin. Whenever I did night shifts in NTM, I used to spend my spare time (in the afternoon) with Alhaji Sulaiman whose Arabic School was at Olomowewe Arabic School at Olomowewe Mosque, Coker Street, Mushin. It was then the idea of creating a forum for the old students of Ma’ad was conceived.
